Bernie Sanders invoked his Jewish legacy on Friday during a new attack on Donald Trump. He told participants at a civil rights conference that he knew something about bigotry.
He said that although Trump thinks the Nazis and white supremacists are "very kind people," his ancestors were murdered by the Nazis.
"From an early age, I knew we had to deal with bigotry where and when it came out," he said at a militant event.
Sanders criticized Trump's name for the "racist theory of the" Birther "movement that he put forth when Barack Obama was president.
"And how was it ugly? he asked the mainly African American public.
