WhatsApp officially launched Thursday its new privacy settings feature that will allow users to decide who can add them to group chats.

Users can now choose whether "Person", "My Contacts" or "Everyone" can direct them to groups on the platform.

"Person" means that you must approve membership to all groups you are invited to and "My Contacts" means that only users in your address book can add you to groups, "says WhatsApp on his blog.

Invitations to group discussions will be sent via private messages. The recipient has three days to accept.

The new metrics, which were launched this year for beta users earlier this year, are available by clicking on "Groups" in the "Privacy" settings.

According to WhatsApp, the group's privacy settings have already begun to be implemented and will reach all users in the coming weeks.
