According to the Food Safety and Food Inspection Department of the US Department of Agriculture, J & J Snack Foods Handhelds Corp., located in Holly Ridge, recalls approximately 56,578 pounds Stuffed sandwiches that may be contaminated with foreign materials, including Semi-Transparent Plastic Service (FSIS).
The stuffed sandwiches were made on February 19 and 20, 2019. The following products are likely to be recalled:
- 9 oz Cardboard packaging containing 2 stuffed pepperoni sandwiches with the inscription "Hot Sandwiches stuffed with PIZZA from Bremer CLASSIC PEPPERONI" and are preferable if they are used on "August 12, 2020" or "August 13" 2020 "appearing on the label.
The products concerned by the recall bear the establishment number "EST. 27231 "inside the USDA inspection mark. These items have been shipped to retail outlets across the country.
The plastic was discovered when the establishment received complaints from consumers. FSIS was notified on April 3, 2019.
FSIS has not received any complaint for injury or illness related to the consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a health care provider.
FSIS is concerned that some products may be frozen and in consumer freezers. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products must be discarded or returned to the place of purchase.
FSIS routinely performs recall effectiveness checks to ensure that recall companies inform their customers of the recall and ensure that steps are taken to ensure that the product is no longer available to consumers. When available, retail distribution lists will be posted on the FSIS website.
