The Cincinnati Bengals surrendered Mark Walton on Saturday after arresting the semi-offensive for the third time this season earlier this week.
"It's important for our team to make a fresh start as we enter the 2019 season," said coach Zac Taylor in a statement. "It's for this reason that we thought it best to go ahead without Mark Walton. We hope his situation will be resolved, but we do not want to take away from the good work that so many of us are doing." 39, other players have already started to demonstrate. "
Walton surrendered to the police on Thursday and faces a charge of carrying a concealed weapon as well as three counts of misdemeanor: resistance to an officer without violence, possession of marijuana and careless driving.
These charges stem from an incident that occurred on March 12 in Miami. The Miami Herald reported that police tried to take Walton away because they told him he was coming and going at full speed. Walton parked his car in front of a house and the officers ordered him to get down as he was getting out of the car. Walton started running and was mastered with a stun gun, but he dislodged the claws and escaped, according to the report.
Police searched the car and found 14 grams of marijuana and a 9-millimeter rifle legally purchased with ammunition.
Walton had already been charged with battery on February 16 and the offense of possession of marijuana on January 16.
Walton, 22, was selected by the Miami Bengals in the fourth round of the 2018 session. He played most of the time on special teams and only carried the ball 14 times last season, totaling 34 rushing yards, averaging 2.4 yards per run.
