Florida man breaks into a car, arrested again

The Florida man, Casey Michael Lewis, was free for 15 minutes before being relocated to a prison cell.

The Saint Lucia MPs did not have to go very far to catch Lewis, who was released Thursday from the St Lucia County Detention Center in Fort Pierce. This is because he never left the premises where he was detained after being charged with robbery.

MPs say they saw Lewis "clearly" looking in the cars and checking the door handles to see if they were unlocked. According to the affidavit, Lewis entered a silver car on the driver's side and sat indoors for more than two minutes. MEPs say that he got out of the car, walked "from top to toe" until the parking lot exit door and repeated the process of lifting the latches and looking into the cars.

Finally, St. Lucia officer Neill Lettman approached him and told him that he had been seen bypassing the prison parking lot, watching the vehicles. Lettman told Lewis that Lewis was "waiting for his girlfriend" to pick him up.

Lewis, who had seemed "upset" at his first release because he had been stripped of his cigarettes, surely understood that he had been arrested because he had tended to Lettman a bag in brown paper with deputies of the property who had removed it from the silver car.

MPs said the bag contained an iPhone 7, four packs of Blue King cigarettes, a lighter, a Visa debit car, a Florida driver's license and $ 547 in cash.

Lewis was "re-entered in the jail for MORE burglary charges and released again on bail of $ 11,250," said the Saint Lucia County Sheriff's Office on his Facebook page: "The prison is bad, but for some, it's better than HOUSE. "

Lewis faces charges of burglary of a means of transport, robbery and possession of stolen property.

This time, MPs ensured that Lewis was met by a man in prison on his second release that day.

This Florida man does not earn any points for his originality. In November 2018, Klaid Karpuzi, 41, of New Port Richey, was released from prison for car theft. He immediately broke into another car – on the prison parking lot, said Pasco County MPs. Karpuzi was easily caught because a deputy was sitting behind the wheel, officers said. Karpuzi, like Lewish after him, was taken back to the penitentiary and was detained for a second car theft attempt in November 2018.
