Will Ferrell and Adam McKay End Creative Partnership

To paraphrase a certain Theodor Seuss Geisel, do not cry because it's over, mouse because we have Talladega Nights and Half brothers outside of that. The deadline indicates that long-standing creative partners Will Ferrell and Adam McKay are officially heading in different directions. No word on whether this decision came at once after McKay saw Holmes & Watsonor after Ferrell watched Vice.

The duo issued a joint statement:

"The last 13 years could not have been more enjoyable and satisfying for both of us at Sanchez Productions. We warmly thank our incredible staff and leaders, as well as all the writers, directors and actors we have worked with over the years. We will always work together creatively and will always be friends. And we recognize that we have the chance to end this business as such. "

Ferrell and McKay were hired at the same time at the same time in 1995. McKay became editor in chief for six years, while Ferrell became one of the biggest stars in the sketch drama series. This jump in a film career has seen McKay lead Ferrell in six feature films: Presenter, Talladega Nights, Half brothers, The other guys, and Presenter 2: The Legend Continues. With the writer / producer Chris Henchy, they also founded the production company Gary Sanchez – and, later, his sister house Gloria Sanchez with Jessica Elbaum-Responsible or co-responsible for a vast list that includes the Dad's house movies, The Houseand HBO Succession. Gary Sanchez will cease his productions once his current projects are over.

McKay has been clearly engaged for a while in a much more straight line: he has directed two consecutive social satires The big court and Vice. Ferrell, for his part, seems interested in much of the same thing; his last broad comedy, Holmes & Watson, the first Will Ferrell-John C. Reilly McKay's non-directed joint, was a flop at both the critical and the box office.
