BLOOMINGTON, Indiana (AP) – Bob Knight made his first public appearance on the Indiana University campus in Bloomington since leaving after his layoff in 2000.
Former basketball coach IU attended the IU's double baseball match against Penn State on Saturday afternoon with his longtime friend and former sports writer Bloomington Herald-Times (Bloomington), Bob Hammel .
According to the Herald-Times, IU officials knew Knight would participate in dual participation.

IU Sports Director Fred Glass said in a text message to the Herald-Times: "I understand that Coach Knight was in town for other reasons. He expressed his interest in a baseball game and we are obviously happy to facilitate it. "
Knight's visit took place two days after he and Hammel had an evening of questions and answers at the Grove High School Center in Greenwood on Thursday night.
