Coachella sailor dies during installation, police say

A Californian died Saturday while he was preparing one of the scenes of the Coachella music festival, which will take place next weekend, police said.

Public Information Officer Benjamin Guitron of the Indio Police Department confirmed to Fox News that an unidentified man died Saturday in a "work accident" related to the staging of a theatrical arrangement for the famous music festival April 12th and 19th. The list of performers for this year 's edition includes Billie Eilish, Ariana Grande, Childish Gambino, Chvrches, Khalid, Gucci Gang, Zedd and Weezer, among many others.

Police responded Saturday morning to information that a theater employee of the Empire Polo Club in Riverside County, California, was injured while working at one of the scene's facilities. The medical staff is busy with the man on the scene, but he died as a result of his injuries.

Due to the circumstances of the man's death, the authorities contacted the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), which led the investigation.

The details surrounding the man's death remained unknown Saturday night, but a report by TMZ cited sources that the man would have fallen to about 60 meters while climbing a scaffold. He was allegedly tied to a safety harness, according to the website.

An autopsy report will be made by the Riverside County Sheriff Coroner's Office. A victim ID waits for family notifications.
