Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo are under investigation for "unfair" online services

Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo may have been together on the Game Awards scene last December to celebrate video games, but they are now holding together as part of a government investigation.

Under the direction of the UK Government's Competition and Markets Authority, the main focus of the investigation is whether the three companies commit unfair practices with their online services. They say they personally wrote to the three companies to "help them better understand their practices."

The objective of this survey is the use of roll-over contracts in Xbox Live, PlayStation Plus and Nintendo Switch Online. The AMC is deciding whether Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo's automatic renewal policies warn consumers well in advance before asking for more money.

During this survey, one of the main objectives will be the monthly number of games offered to consumers as part of their subscription. While Nintendo only adds to the NES library and Xbox Live consistently offers four games per month, the recent Sony reduction has been a controversial topic for online subscriptions.

Although the CMA makes it clear that it has not yet decided whether these companies have breached the consumer protection law. However, if the CMA decides that companies violate this rule, they could take enforcement action.
