Back-to-back storms threaten extreme weather, high winds, tornadoes and even the blizzard storm until mid-week in some areas, as warm, moist Gulf of Mexico air encounters a colder and drier air coming from the northwestern middle section of the nation.

If the initial storm of this weekend absorbs enough moisture, it could diffuse wind-driven rain and several inches of snow to the east across the north-central states, AccuWeather reports.

"The speed of arrival of moisture in the Gulf could be a determining factor in the magnitude and nature of severe thunderstorms, especially to determine whether gusts of wind in a straight line are more likely to occur." Be caused by tornadoes, "said Alex Sosnowski, Meteorologist for AccuWeather.

The storm could even dump enough rain on parts of the central plains in parts of Nebraska, Iowa and Illinois to aggravate serious recent flooding.

On Saturday, the National Meteorological Service warns of potential storms across
Texas in the Lower Mississippi Valley, possibly including severe storms, high winds, hail and tornadoes.

On Sunday, the storm system is expected to bring rapidly moving showers and thunderstorms to the Great Lakes region and a winter mix early Monday in northeastern New England.

In Texas, persistent moisture is expected to encounter a higher trough in the southern United States and northern Mexico, resulting in another powerful east-facing system across the Mississippi River.

Heavy rain and thunderstorms are possible from the valleys of the lower reaches of Ohio and Tennessee to the southern Gulf states until Monday, the meteorological service announced.

This will set the stage for the second mighty punch and the threat of heavy snow and strong winds from southern California to southern Nevada, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico and New York. from Colorado until Wednesday.

Meteorologist Michaela Heeren warns of the possibility of heavy snow and blizzards from southeastern Montana to Colorado from Tuesday to Wednesday.
