April 7 (Reuters) – Italian automaker Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV has agreed to pay the automaker Tesla Inc. hundreds of millions of euros for Tesla's vehicles to be counted in its park in order to avoid fines for violating the new EU rules on broadcasts, the Financial Times reported Sunday.
This measure will allow the Italian manufacturer to offset the carbon dioxide emissions of its cars compared to those of Tesla, by reducing its average figure to an authorized level, announced the FT sur.ft.com/2KecBQA.
The report did not mention any other financial details regarding the specific amount Fiat Chrysler had agreed to pay Tesla.
The Italian manufacturer formed an open pool with Tesla on February 25, the report adds, citing a statement to the European Commission.
