American Airlines pilots say the passengers should be confident when flying aboard Boeing's 737 Max 8, a troubled jetliner, because they're confident. The planes have been immobilized since two fatal accidents in recent months. (March 28)

American Airlines cancels its flights in early June due to the ongoing stranding of the Boeing 737 Max, a move that will affect 90 flights a day.
The airline had previously canceled 90 daily flights until April 24 to account for the temporary loss of its 24 Max 8. The Federal Aviation Administration immobilized the aircraft on March 13, because the latest model of workhorse 737 of Boeing was involved in two fatal collisions in less than five months.
The American said that the proactive cancellation of flights until June 5 would give the airline a wider flight time, as well as more choice of flights, in order to book the affected passengers, thus reducing cancellations of last-minute flights. American has 6,700 daily flights.
Southwest Airlines, which has been hit by a series of last minute flight cancellations since the grounding of the Max 8, took a similar step on March 29, deciding to maintain its 34 Max 8s outside of its flight schedule at least in May.
American has 24 planes in his fleet.

US CEO Doug Parker had hinted that further flight cancellations would arrive.
The airline indicated that the affected passengers would be notified by phone or email and that it was not limited to canceling scheduled flights aboard the Max 8.
The airline's maximum 8 flights were concentrated in Miami and the mere fact of canceling these flights would have too much impact on this operation. Instead, the airline reduces frequencies on other routes and uses planes released on the old Max 8 routes.
Travelers whose flights are canceled can claim a refund if they do not wish to make a new reservation, regardless of the type of ticket purchased.
