Dreamville Fest: the economic impact of the event on Raleigh

RALEIGH (WTVD) – The city of Raleigh is still working with the organizers to reduce Saturday's Dreamville festival figures.

Analysts say that the event announces it as one of the most successful events in the city's history. Dreamville has certainly kept its promises.

With tickets sold for between $ 80 and $ 400, the sold-out festival is one of the most important day-long events in the city of Oaks, according to Visit Raleigh analysts.

40,000 people gathered at Dix Park to celebrate some of the best hip-hop and r & b artists and stars, including Fayetteville and starring J. Cole.

Visit Raleigh said that more than half of the residents of Dreamville were from the state.

For its part, the turnout was so important that it almost competed with the average 44,000 visitors on the day of the opening of the national fair, according to Visit Raleigh.

Hotels in and around the city felt the impact of the event.

Sheraton hotels in the downtown and the adjacent Marriott were sold Saturday, but MaCauly Cacioppo, managing director of Crank Arm Brewing, in the downtown warehouse district, said his bar had not seen more of Dreamville customers.

"We have not been affected from top to bottom, one way or the other," Cacioppo said.

Pit Pit Davie Street, meanwhile, felt the impact of Dreamville.

The general manager, Dwan Wigfall, said the pedestrian traffic was not normal. His clients and some of his staff were not at the restaurant on Saturday.

"I was at the concert and I enjoyed it," Wigfall said. "I hate that it affected us commercially here, Friday night and today (Sunday) was busier, but Saturday was definitely slow."

City leaders expect to have a better idea of ​​the impact of Dreamville in a few weeks.
