EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The main event of the WWE WrestleMania 35 was marked when a trio of women hosted the show for the first time in its history. Ronda Rousey, Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair competed in a triple threat for the two women's championships, which fan favorite Lynch won at home to crown a whopping seven months of her career. Elsewhere on the map, Kofi Kingston became the second African-American to win the WWE title after defeating Daniel Bryan, and Seth Rollins defeated the beast by beating Brock Lesnar for the title of world champion.
In fact, seven of the nine titles defended at WrestleMania 35 changed hands and fans' favorites were overwhelmed Sunday night. A record $ 16.9 million was released from the MetLife stadium – the highest figure ever achieved by the stadium. The WWE has announced 82,265 fans for the show, the third largest in the history of WrestleMania. CBS Sports was with you all the way through Sunday, updating this story with the latest results and highlights from the biggest show of the year. Overall WrestleMania Rating: B +

Cruiserweight Championship – Tony Nese def. Buddy Murphy (c) via pinfall to win the title (Kickoff Show): Discuss the perfect way to get things done at the launch event with this energetic can opener. Nese scored his surprise with a win that could mean that a call-up is in Murphy's future after a memorable six-month reign. The match perfectly matches 205 Live's aerial artistic talent and the cruiserweight division with the hard hitter often seen in Japan. Murphy quickly had a cut over his left eye and Nese nearly scored a goal early after an impressive springboard jump from the apron. Nese continued to impress the wolves and the 450 corkscrews, each being able to fire only two shots. The end came after Nese was able to extend his foot up the rope so as not to lose after being touched by Murphy's law. Nese immediately returned with a German suplex from Murphy in the second turnbuckle and a knee in the corner for 1-2-3. If it's time for the WWE to give Murphy more to do, the Australian looks ready. Grade: B +
Carmella wins the Women's Royal Battle (Kickoff Show): For the small fanfare or expectations that this match had to come, the good news is that the match was not a train wreck. Ember Moon came back successfully after a six month break and connected with an eclipse of the top rope on Mandy Rose with two other knives. The Riott team has received numerous bookings and has teamed up with a series of eliminations until Dana Brooke rallies to eliminate Liv Morgan and Ruby Riott. Logan seemed to have won the match after successively eliminating Sonia Deville and Asuka, but Carmella plunged back into the ring from where she was hiding and eliminated Logan with a great kick. Grade: C
Raw Tag Team Championship – Zack Ryder and Curt Hawkins def. The Revival via pinfall to win the titles (Kickoff Show): It may not have been disturbed by Brock Lesnar five years ago, but Hawkins' epic of a different kind took a dramatic turn in his backyard. Hawkins, whose losing streak ran from 0 to 269, joined his New York compatriot at Ryder to create a completely WrestleMania moment. The fight against the bottom from end to end, while Revival relied on traditional tactics to double the team and distract the referee, the duo of the oppressed could rally after a series of big gestures that led to the arrival. Ryder's super attempt on Wilder made them swing onto the top rope, Ryder banging his head against the apron. Dawson then hit Hawkins with a brainbuster on the floor. However, after a series of almost late falls, Hawins placed Dawson in the foreground. The duo, formerly known as Major Brothers, took over the label for the first time in more than a decade. Grade: C +
Braun Strowman wins the commemorative battle André le Géant (launching show): Despite a somewhat awkward construction for this match, staging a quarrel between Strowman and two stars of "Saturday Night Live", the win turned out to be a high-quality comedy and a fun affair. Colin Jost and Michael Che, hosts of the NBC program's "Weekend Update" segment, ran off and hid under the ring at the opening bell. The previous match was a good mix of points and difficult eliminations, including Strowman sending Luke Harper and Ali over the deck while Harper, who was playing his first televised match in seven months, was trying a suplex. Late in the game, Andrade stormed Apollo Crews, which accidentally eliminated both. While Strowman mingled with the Hardy Boyz, the SNL stars came back without success to eliminate it from behind. Strowman, who set a match record for the eliminations, threw Matt and Jeff Hardy before stopping a fearful Che of a self-elimination just to knock him off the apron. Jost, who played the role of heel by wearing the jersey of the former New York Giants star at Cleveland Browns, was hoisted and thrown on a crowd of wrestlers on the outside to end the match . Category B
Alexa Bliss, the host of WrestleMania, presents Hulk Hogan: Bliss opened the show and told the crowd that she had them in the palm of her hand and that she could create a WrestleMania moment in a snap of her fingers. When she did just that, Hogan's music hit and he cut his normal promo, jokingly calling the Pontiac Silverdome before actually making a mistake and calling the MetLife Center.
Universal Championship – Seth Rollins def. Brock Lesnar (c) via pinfall to win the title: Once the opening segment ended, Paul Heyman Power went into the ring and said that if Lesnar was not the main tournament, he would fight first and leave New York to be able to jump on a plane to Las Vegas, where he was "finally appreciated". This surprise match was as violent as it was short. It was also well booked. Lesnar jumped on Rollins even before reaching the ring and made a long series of beats before the start of the match, which included a ground F5 and several shots in the ring barrier and over the table. some announcements. Rollins, whose back was covered with swollen red spots, ended up using a low blow to change gears after three consecutive German suplexes after the bell had finally rung. Rollins rallied to hit a trio of Stomp and get the surprise win as Lesnar sold the wounds in the center of the ring for a long time. As in the main event of WrestleMania 31 four years ago, Rollins ended up giving up the title at the top of the ramp. The clean and decisive finishing of the finish suggests that Lesnar, who has just suffered his second loss for more than two years at the WWE, will take an extended break to return to UFC for a victory against the heavyweight Daniel Cormier in August. Category B-
AJ Styles def. Randy Orton via pinfall: Styles may have had to wait up to 38 years to debut in WrestleMania, but the "Phenomenal One" continues to build an impressive resume on the brightest stage. Although not necessarily an instant classic, this encounter between great people of all time told a sacred story. Styles was lucky enough to avoid a trio of RKO attempts throughout the match, until Orton finally managed to defeat his much-vaunted opponent, but only at what Styles got himself up to. launches dramatically. Styles clinched the match's place when he connected to the ground with a phenomenally rigid forearm. On the way back to the ring, Styles' attempt on another forearm was thwarted by RKO's attempt by Orton. Styles, however, pushed him off with a puzzle on the ropes and followed with a perfect forearm finisher. Category B
SmackDown Tag Team Championship – The Usos (c) def. The Bar (via pinfall), Ricochet & Aleister Black and Rusev & Shinsuke Nakamura retain the titles: Reserved after the fact to get a number of big names on the map, it turned out to be a frantic and fun affair. A number of well-managed comic spots were also integrated, including a very long Cesaro swing at the center of the ring on Ricochet, while Sheamus clinched 10 beats of Bodhran successively. Former NXT champions, Ricochet and Black, appeared to be about to win the title after Black kicked out the ring and Ricochet scored his 630 splash on Sheamus until all four members remaining jump at the same time to break the pin. After a series of delirious strikes late in the middle of the ring, Sheamus ate a pair of super-kicks from the Usos until Jey and Jimmy clinched their tandem goal to defend themselves. Grade: B +
Shane McMahon def. The Miz by jamming (number of falls everywhere): As for car wrecks, this one was an artistic masterpiece. Not only has The Miz sparked enough hatred and aggression to protect his father from McMahon, but the creative use of the stadium for the stipulation of the match has proven brilliant. One of the first moments saw Miz's father, George Mizanin, cross the barricade to stand above his son to keep McMahon out of the top rope. Mizanin also entered the ring to put himself in McMahon's face and, after he was laughed at, he was trampled and punched in the corner. The action moved exclusively outside the ring, with McMahon only getting two after a DDT on a lighting platform. The two men fought violently in the crowd and headed for the international announcements table, McMahon being thrown on a railing and on top of a golf cart behind it. After the duo climbed a scaffold, McMahon is slender to an overwhelming finale. McMahon asked for clemency and excused himself after the two men had climbed to the top of a large camera platform. Miz took McMahon for a suplex of the scaffolding platform and on what appeared to be a padded area underneath. Not only was the venue one of the most visually impressive in WrestleMania history, but the impact of the move meant The Miz was at the bottom, allowing the referee to count Pin for McMahon. Grade: A-
Women's Team Championship – The IIconics def. Boss Connection & # 39; N Hug (c) [via pinfall], Beth Phoenix & Natalya and Nia Jax & Tamina to win the titles: Fun spots and a surprise arrival made this match a sneaky match while creating an "iconic" moment in the process for Billie Kay and Peyton Royce. Natalya has placed many fun moments at the same time that Sasha Banks and Bayley have been placed in the sniper. Later, Snuka and Jax combined to create two Samoan doubles Drops on the Iconics. But it was the finish that made this match a rather chaotic match, including a particular attention to the smallest details. After Phoenix hit an incredible Glam Slam on Bayley at the top rope, Royce ran to break the pin and knock Phoenix out of the ring. Kay, who had hit the back of Phoenix just as she jumped from the top rope, came sliding to steal the pin while the crowd grew enormously for the young Australian duo. Category B
WWE Championship – Kofi Kingston def. Daniel Bryan (c) via pinfall to win the title: After 11 long years, there is no problem for Kingston, the only paradise. The WWE veteran and one-third of The New Day members have won an inspiring victory for all ages and crowned an incredible number of stories after an improbable and natural offer. Crowning Kingston as the second African-American champion of the WWE in the history of this promotion was certainly not announced yet two months ago, but the combination of performances in the Kingston ring and unwavering support from the crowd made the right choice. make. From Kingston's irony that had a similar scenario to Bryan's in 2014 against Bryan himself in the old-school way with which this match was booked, the crowd lived and died at every dramatic turn.
Kingston finally fought after a long and debilitating attempt by Bryan's LeBell Lock to provoke a frenzy among the crowd. He inverted Bryan in a floor sequence and delivered it before giving him the favor a few moments earlier by holding his arms and giving him a ruthless kick in the face. Kingston was lined up and hit his Trouble in Paradise finisher to trigger a fireworks display in the stadium soon after the match. The celebration sequence was one of the most memorable in recent history as Kingston's two sons joined him, with Xavier Woods and Big E, in the center of the ring. Grade: A-
The guys from "Weekend Update" are checked: Bliss, injured and bruised after being dominated by Strowman at the launch party, was examined in a doctor's office. Bliss said that she would attract the best attention. When the doctors turned around, they were Kevin Nash and Scott Hall with rubber. gloves.
United States Championship – Samoa Joe (c) def. Rey Mysterio via submission to retain the title: Any 16-game card will require a squash or two to keep the show going. The good thing about this event was that it further reinforced the dominance of Joe's heel. The short match was full of action as Mysterio picked up a 619 and held a splash on the top rope. But Joe was able to catch it in full flight and sit down Mysterio. He applied Coquina Clutch and sat down for quick tapping. Recent injuries to Mysterio have probably created the need for a quick match. Grade: C-
Roman Reigns def. Drew McIntyre via pinfall: Stemming from the emotion shown by the crowd during Kofi Kingston's victory in the WWE Championship, he had written everything about the game. While the match was physical, it was certainly not special. The reservation could also be questioned given the heat that led McIntyre in the game and how he seemed ready to make the leap in the main tournament title on Raw. Instead, WWE chose to give Reigns a victory that his character did not necessarily need, even with the remarkable nature of his real life return after leukemia last month. On a map already filled with stories of well-being and inspiring moments, this one was free. Reigns rallied late to pack a Superman punch with a spear for victory. Grade: C-
John Cena returns as "Doctor in Thuganomics": Elias entered the ring with his guitar for a WrestleMania performance and threw different versions of himself playing guitar and piano. Her performance was finally interrupted by a video package of Babe Ruth making her own weapons for the New York Yankees at the 1932 World Series. Cena came home and returned to her old gimmick as a rapper. Cena delivered a number of bars burying Elias, including a few who were not PG rated. He then tackled Elias with a clothesline, a five-fingered armband and the return of FU, the former name of his finisher Attitude Adjustment. Grade: B +
Triple H def. Batista via pinfall (No Holds Barred): If Triple H had lost, he would have retired. It is almost unfortunate that this match happened at the sixth hour of a WrestleMania already grueling for the fans, as both guys told a hell of a story and endured a terrible punishment. Has the match been too long and booked in the wrong place on the map? No doubt about it. But it's hard to discount its brutality and quality as the WWE Legends pair, at 50 or more, drained the tank to a level well beyond what was necessary for the importance of the match. In the end, Triple H avoided a forced retirement because of the stipulation and won an exhausting victory after Ric Flair rushed to give him a hammer to make up for the one held by Batista. Triple H followed with a sledgehammer running to hit the top of the ring staircase. The match was dotted with dramatic falls nearby, weapons and tables outside the ring and kicks during free kicks. Batista was even in the background of a table of announcements that did not give in and that went through for a second. The timing of the match was undoubtedly a psychotic Triple H sitting on a chair above a fallen Batista while he was using needle-nose pliers to pull a nose ring. Grade: B +
Baron Corbin def. Kurt Angle via pin (farewell match): According to history, the man who leaves the territory must go out on the back. Even if this match is against a fighter as unloved fans as Corbin. Fortunately for the fans, the match was short and almost painless (apart from the result). Angle landed four straight in Germany and appeared to have won the match until he missed a goal on a moon of the highest rope. Corbin followed with End of Days for the anticlimactic finish. After the match, Angle thanked the fans and returned to his theme song one last time. Grade: D +
Intercontinental Championship – Finn Balor def. Bobby Lashley (c) via pinfall to win the title: Faced by the "Popcorn Match" standings before the main event, Balor came back under the name "The Demon" and delivered a lot of action to the match that took place so close to midnight on East cost. Lashley delivered the match spot when he swayed Balor through the ropes and apron before the two crushed on the floor. A second spear, however, saw that Lashley had only two. Balor then wrapped a power bomb with her Grace Stripe finish for the pin. The lack of convincing future scenario certainly hurt this game, as does the unexplained use by Balor of the reason he summoned "The Devil". Grade: C
The winner wins everything – Raw and SmackDown Women's Championships – Becky Lynch def. Ronda Rousey (c) [via pinfall] and Charlotte Flair (c) to win both titles: The more closely historical WrestleMania, featuring women in the main event for the first time, ended rather in a rather anticlimatic manner while Lynch thwarted Rousey's Piper Piper. The abrupt end, however, could not overshadow what was an incredible performance from the three performers who were constantly willing to risk everything in an extremely physical match. Lynch, who called herself "Becky Two Belts" before Sunday's game, won both women's titles in a match that used violence to conceal negligence all along.
The real shame in this one was that it had not started until midnight ET at the end of a show lasting seven and a half hours. The crowd was naturally dead despite an almost senseless intensity on the part of each wrestler, who seemed as stiff as possible. Rousey was bleeding from the elbow and had almost grotesque blues on the inside of her legs. Meanwhile, Flair preferred his right knee and was also bleeding from the arm. The spots were both crazy and often with Flair putting a Spanish Spanish on the top rope and Lynch then canceling an attempt to lock Figure 8 leg on Rousey by knocking one leg off the top rope on Flair. Rousey also hit the back of his head to the ground after a Lynch dropkick sent him flying out of the ring. The finish also looked slightly sloppy as Rousey's shoulders were visibly raised during the three-shot game. Give women an A + for the kind of effort that deserved to be booked. Grade: B +
