The last time we had news of Nintendo, the Japanese titan of the game unveiled to the world two new titles of Pokemon Switch, Sword and Shield. He then broke the Internet as fans collectively lost their way to the new Galar region and launched a trio of Starters for the Gen 8 Pokemon.
It was almost two months ago, but according to rumors (via a reputable source of industry leaks, GamingIntel), another Nintendo Direct – a live stream containing information and announcements relating to Switch and 3DS – could be scheduled later this week, specifically on Thursday, 11
It makes more sense when you remember that Reggie Fils-Aime, CEO of Nintendo America, is officially retiring on April 15th. This Direct could therefore be a great way to give the industry icon a fun and memorable mailing, actually, Son-Mode Likes. As for the ads to expect from the potential of Direct itself, GamingIntel has yet to confirm anything, but there is enough to speculate.
Among other things, we know that the Joker of Persona 5 will soon be part of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as a DLC fighter, and that Nintendo could use the Direct as an opportunity to announce its release with the game's 3.0 patch later this month.
Otherwise, Animal Crossing Switch and Luigi's Mansion 3 have been confirmed for 2019, so there is a good chance that we will finally see sequences of these games in action, while other Pokemon news are only not excluded either. Heck, games that we do not yet officially know could make their appearance, like the recently released store listings for Metroid Prime Trilogy, Zelda: A Link to the Past and Persona 5.
In any case, keep an eye out for an official announcement of Nintendo's Direct shortly, which usually reveals the date and time a few days before the broadcast stream itself. Fingers crossed on its contents will give us one last chance to create another series of timeless Reggie memes.
