Delta Air Lines exceeded the annual ranking of US airlines published Monday.
Researchers from Wichita State University and the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University compared data on arrival rates to the hour, badly handled baggage, passengers and consumer complaints of 2018 to establish their rankings.
Delta was the only carrier to progress in the four categories of the year, from second to first place.
JetBlue Airways ranked second, followed by Southwest Airlines and the first commercial service of 2017, Alaska Airlines.
Frontier Airlines finished last, just behind American Airlines.

Overall, the industry grew in three of the four categories in the study, with the exception of late flights.
