The Apple triple-purpose camera system could debut on two new generation iPhones instead of a single model, as previous reports have indicated, according to the Japanese blog Macotakara.
The report also states that Apple's successor on the iPhone XS might have a slightly larger screen than initially expected.
The report, first discovered by 9to5Mac, indicates that a rear-mounted camera with three lenses will appear both on a 6.1-inch iPhone OLED model and on an iPhone 6 model, 5 inches OLED. OLED is the screen technology that Apple uses for its iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max and that typically produces deeper blacks and better contrast than LCD panels, technology used to the display of the iPhone XR at a reduced price.

This idea that Apple could equip two of its new iPhones with a triple camera differs slightly from what we have heard in the past. The Wall Street Journal announced in January that only the successor of the Apple iPhone XS Max, featuring a 6.5-inch screen, would benefit from the triple-camera upgrade. A January Bloomberg report contained similar claims, claiming that "the biggest new high-end iPhones" would have a triple camera. This report also said that this system could possibly come to other models of iPhone.
Macotakara announced that the new iPhones will be thinner to allow for a bigger hump at the back of the device that would house the three-camera system.
The 6.1-inch screen size for a new iPhone OLED also does not match previous reports from Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst at TF International Securities renowned for its accurate predictions about future Apple products. In February, Kuo said that Apple's new-generation iPhones would be a direct follow-up to those of the current lineup, predicting that a new 5.8-inch OLED model, a new OLED model of 6, 5 inches and a new 6.1-inch LCD model would come this year. If Macotakara's report is correct, it could mean that Apple's successor to the iPhone XS will have a 6.1-inch screen instead of the 5.8-inch screen predicted by Kuo.
Macotakara has a mixed record with regard to the accuracy of his reports. In 2016, for example, Apple rightly announced that Apple would launch new models of iPad Pro with improved screens in 2017, but its claim that a 7.9-inch iPad Pro would also come to this year's course has proved false. However, Apple has released an updated iPad mini that supports Apple's pencil entry in March 2019. But the release was just when he said that Apple was planning to remove the iPhone's headphone jack and correctly reported the Jet Black color option of the iPhone 7.
In addition to the new triple-lens camera, Apple's 2019 iPhones are expected to support two-way wireless charging, an upgraded Face ID, and frosted glass design.
