According to preliminary National Weather Service investigations, two separate EF-1 tornadoes have been confirmed in Marshall and Blount counties.
The storms blew winds of up to 100 mph.
Earlier:
Storms that could have caused a tornado caused damage in Blount, Marshall and DeKalb counties this morning. Damage ranges from fallen power lines and broken trees to roof and building damage.
The storm also destroyed the outbuildings of the Guntersville Walmart Garden Center. No damage was reported to the store, but it was evacuated. According to the city of Guntersville, electricity is cut off in the area.
"Due to damage in the Wal-Mart / Cracker Barrel / Lowe area, the power is shut off from Marshall Technical School to the City Limit line, including the traffic lights. Traffic lights will not be monitored due to limited staff. Please reduce the speed and treat the signals as a four-way stop. Most businesses in this area are closed. There is no estimate of when electricity will be restored, "said the city in a Facebook message.
Stronger storms are possible in parts of Alabama today.
