Delta flies high after the publication of the results of the 29th CQP (Airline Quality Rating).
The ranking, compiled by researchers from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and Wichita State University, which make up the AQR, is published as part of the annual report on the country's largest carriers.
The report focuses mainly on timeliness, baggage issues, the number of passengers denied boarding and consumer satisfaction.

This year, the AQR ranked Delta Air Lines first, citing a slight increase in punctuation percentages and a decrease in the number of denied boarding and passenger complaints in 2018.
AQR noted that six of the nine airlines studied had improved their scores (Delta, Hawaiian, JetBlue, Southwest, Spirit and United in particular) compared to 2017, while three (Alaska, American and Frontier) had recorded the "highest "drop" of their scores. , the Frontier scores being the ones that fall the most. Frontier was also in last place, a position previously occupied by Spirit Airlines in the last report.
The report notes that Frontier scores in three of the four surveyed areas have deteriorated since 2017, apart from its poorly processed baggage rate, which has improved.
And, as USA Today points out, the ranking of Alaska Airlines has probably dropped due to a merger with Virgin America in April 2018. (Virgin America has not been included in the list. This year's AQR, although the report indicates that Virgin's scores prior to April 2018 were combined with those of Alaska to determine Alaska's overall score for 2018.)
In the sector as a whole, the AQR notes that overall ratings for 2018 are the best in the ranking history, with less baggage being misdirected in 2018 (2.43 bags per 10,000 passengers vs. 2.46 in 2017) and the number of denied boardings has decreased (from 0.341 passengers for every 10,000 to just 0.14). Complaints also went from 1.35 per 100,000 passengers to just 1.04.
