Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade has publicly voiced support for her 11-year-old son, who took part in the annual Miami Beach Pride march on Sunday.
"We support each other with pride," wrote Wade on Instagram, about a picture of his son, Zion, who appeared with his mother-in-law, actress Gabrielle Union.
On another image, Wade, who was in Toronto for an NBA game Sunday, wrote: "Zion had his [sic] section cheers today. If only I were there to see you smile, kid! He added an emoji to the rainbow pride flag on the pole.
Zion and her stepmother were on a float at the LGBTQ Pride Festival on Sunday. Other family members, including his big brother Zaire, 17, and his younger sister Kaavia, were also present.
Zaire Wade shared his public support on Instagram for his younger brother, writing: "I love you, brother, whatever happens."
There has been a wave of support on social media after the Sunday's release of the NBA star.
"Dwayne Wade and Gabby Union supporting young Zion in Miami Pride are so beautiful that I could cry," Twitter user @CamiCruzThomas wrote. "I can not imagine having this kind of support as a child (or even a young adult). Amazing example of life and demonstration of unconditional love. "
Although all the answers regarding Zion's appearance at Miami Beach Pride were not positive, the Wade family had its share of social media advocates to fight enemies.
