Syracuse, NY – Friendly's, the iconic brand created by the opening of its first ice cream store in 1935 by two brothers, closed 23 restaurants, including four in the Syracuse area this weekend.
The company based in Wilbraham, Mass., Said it had taken the measures that required "with an eye on the viability and optimization of investments in resources".
The closed sites include 14 restaurants in upstate New York, three in Massachusetts, three in Connecticut, two in New Hampshire and one in Maine. All are owned by the company.
After the closure, Friendly's will have 77 corporate-owned restaurants and 97 franchise-owned restaurants.
