Tamar Braxton and Wendy Williams are friends, but the star of "Braxton Family Values" has confessed that she has not contacted Williams since she confirmed last month that she lived in a sober house.
"I thought about it," said Braxton, 42, during the "Watch What Happens Live" day on Sunday. "I did not contact her because sometimes people need space when they really live things."
Braxton said that the public character of the tragedy surrounding Williams – with rumors swirling about her sobriety and allegations of unfaithfulness on the part of her husband – had also made her hesitant.
"All his life is in the public eye, and you do not know what is really the truth, and what is not, so you have to sort of wait and let people come to you." she added. "You can send a message like, 'I'm here for you,' but sometimes you do not even want to hear it, so you have to go through that and reach out to people."
Williams, 54, said she and Braxton had spent time together, and Braxton also participated in "The Wendy Williams Show" on more than one occasion. During an episode of September 18, Braxton revealed that she had been assaulted by members of her family.
"I decided to tell Wendy and the world MY secret, I myself that I was abused not once, twice, ten times, but several times by several" members of the "I never told anyone other than two people in my life and they both held that close to them," Braxton wrote on Instagram afterward.
On March 13, Williams opened his talk show about his decision to stay in a sober facility to fight his substance abuse problems.
"You know I had a cocaine problem in the past," she told viewers. "I have never been to a place to seek treatment … there are people in your family, maybe you are … I want you to know more about the story.
Since Williams' revelation, many sources have also stated on page six that her husband's alleged mistress gave birth to a baby while Williams was recovering.
