Tourists taking pictures on this Thai beach risk the death penalty

The Phuket International Airport is attacking tourist activities on Mai Khao Beach, dubbed "Invisible Phuket" in recent years. The beach served as a unique backdrop for tourist selfies because of its low-flying aircraft, which can be seen frequently in the area.

Taking a picture with planes has become an essential element for many people, but airport officials believe that this type of photography can be extremely dangerous.

They are so serious that people caught taking pictures inside the new airport security zone near Mai Khao beach risk the death penalty.

"People and tourists will not be allowed to enter this area to take pictures," said Wichit Kaeothaithiam, deputy chief at Phuket Airport. Bangkok Post. "Authorities must enforce strict safety rules, as required by the International Civil Aviation Organization."

The warning comes as a result of reports that activities on Mai Khao Beach have bothered pilots. Persons found taking photos inside the security zone are in violation of Thai law and are subject to sanctions under the Air Navigation Act.

"The maximum punishment is the death penalty," said Wichit.

Less severe penalties include a fine of up to 40,000 baht (1,800 NZD) or a prison term of up to 20 years, according to The sun.
