According to the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), approximately 56,578 pounds of stuffed sandwiches were recalled because they were reportedly contaminated with semi-transparent plastic.
The recall was announced Friday, two days after FSIS was informed of consumer complaints to J & J Snack Foods Handhelds Corp.

The recalled sandwiches include 9 oz. packaging labeled "Bremer CLASSIC PEPPERONI PIZZA Hot Filled Sandwiches" and 9 oz. packets of hot sandwiches with ham and Bremer cheese.
The sandwiches are labeled August 12, 2020 and August 13, 2020 with the date "best if used before".
The FSIS stated that no injuries or illness related to the consumption of the products had been reported.

The sandwiches were prepared on February 19 and 20 and shipped to retail outlets across the country.
