Texas Sen. Ted Cruz has long struggled with his basketball fandom. He called a basketball hoop a "ring" while he was campaigning for the presidency. He faced Jimmy Kimmel in a terrible head-to-head match. He was blamed for defeat against the Warriors in Game 7 of the Houston Rockets.
Basically, if you are a sports team in Texas, apply the Drake rule to Ted Cruz. Depart it.
Texas Tech failed to do so in the NCAA championship game against Virginia on Monday, and suffered a demoralizing loss in overtime. The gathering of the Red Raiders was going so well that Cruz tweeted this strange selfie from his luxury suite at the US stadium of the Bank.
A lead from one late point eventually became a loss of eight points in overtime.
Let's just say that the Internet was not nice to the Texas senator.
Poor, Texas Tech. It never really got a chance.
