Bodycam images released Thursday by the Oxnard Police Department in California show a 17-year-old girl apologizing to the police after she was hit three times.
Equipped with a 12-inch cook's knife, the teenage girl, whose identity was not revealed and whose face is blurry, continued walking towards the agent Timothy Roberts, who has stepped back many times, repeatedly asking him to drop the gun.
"Leave it alone," he says. "Do not reach the knife."
"What happens if I reach it?" she asked.
"Then," Roberts said, "something serious is going to happen, put down the knife."
Roberts is heard on the BodyCam sequence requesting an accelerated backup.
"The suspect is armed with a knife and threatens to use it," he told the radio. To the girl: "Leave it alone!"
"No," she replied. "Pull me on." I waited all day, I was waiting, come on. "
She continued walking towards Roberts.

"I'm backing west," Roberts said on his radio. "She is still armed with the knife, refusing to let him down."
Suddenly, the teenager seems to be accelerating her pace towards the officer, who fires three shots, all of which hit the target.
Roberts called for an EMS unit, and he and an accompanying officer immediately began providing first aid.
"I'm really sorry," said the girl, doubled on the floor.
The incident occurred on May 3. The girl was still hospitalized Thursday, according to the Oxnard Police Department release.
Roberts, in accordance with departmental policy, was placed on administrative leave as the incident investigation was conducted.
Police said that a second officer intervening on the scene, near Carl's Jr, in the 400 block of North Rose Avenue, was preparing a "bag of beans" to master the young girl when she went to Roberts and that he shot his gun.
