A 19-year-old mother from Tennessee was sentenced to two years on probation for placing her eight-month-old baby in the freezer while she was under the influence and closing the lid, according to a report.

FOX 35 ORLANDO reported that Brittany Smith was facing serious criminal charges of child abuse and neglect. She pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of neglecting children only.
Witnesses said they saw Smith hold his baby near an unused freezer in their backyard.

The resident went out to talk to Smith and found her in the void below their house.
The baby was found in the freezer, which contained about an inch of stagnant water in the interior.
