CRÊME PHILADELPHIA – Authorities and a family member said that a 4-year-old boy had been hit by shards of glass and had died after falling from a framed photo in his home in Philadelphia.
According to a statement from the municipal police, the accident occurred on Wednesday afternoon.
Amanda Velez said her son, Adrian Ortega, and her two sisters were playing together when the frame fell, throwing glass around the room. It is not clear why it happened.
She says that shards hit Ortega in the abdomen and that he was bleeding profusely when he was taken to the hospital. He died there shortly after. More details about his injuries were not disclosed.
No other injuries have been reported.
A police investigation is underway pending the results of an autopsy.
