An Illinois man who had a shotgun trap that killed a neighbor last year was convicted on Thursday of murder and another charge, the press reported.
A Union County jury said William Wasmund, 48, was guilty of first degree murder and grievous bodily harm in the death of Jeff Spicer, Southern Illinoisian reported.

Prosecutors said Wasmund had attached the shotgun to a rope connected to the door of a shed located on his property, so the weapon could be used when the door was open. Wasmund's defense lawyers said their client had complained of robberies on his property and had suggested Spicer to steal.
