A woman and a five-year-old boy were killed after losing at least 14 stories in a building in downtown Brickell, according to Miami authorities.
Shortly after 8 pm, the Miami Fire Department responded to an announcement about a "possible rider" at 88 SW Seventh St., said Captain Ignatius Carroll in this section.
The crews first found the boy who was not reacting on the sixth floor terrace. An adult woman was found nearby in shrubs, Carroll said. Carroll said the two men probably fell on at least the 20th floor.
The unidentified woman died on the scene. The boy was transported to the Ryder Trauma Center at the Jackson Memorial Hospital in an "extremely critical" state.
