Maine authorities identified the first-year student killed Wednesday after being run over by a school bus while he was riding his bicycle.
The Rumford Police Department announced Thursday that 6-year-old Jayce Holt was killed after being accidentally run over by a school bus driven by 51-year-old Stephen Arsenault.
Holt was riding a bicycle on the sidewalk, heading north, on the west side of Waldo Street, when the police said he had begun to dialogue "one way or another" with him. One of four people in the school bus that was passing, reported The Press Herald.

The boy, who was not wearing a helmet at the time, entered the crosswalk, unaware that the bus had also turned left on his way. Not having time to react, Holt and his bike were crushed by the left rear tires.
Investigators say that Arsenault, who has maintained a record of virgin conduct over the past 10 years, fully cooperated with them and that nothing seemed to indicate early that he was at fault, reported The Press Herald.

Rumford Elementary, where Holt was a student, confirmed his death in a message posted on Facebook Wednesday.
"It is with great sadness that I inform you that one of our students passed away this afternoon after an accident. We know that the coming days will be difficult for our entire community, "said director Jill Bartash's statement.
