Police in Indianapolis are investigating the death of a baby who was left in a hot car on Saturday, while temperatures in the Midwestern town were hitting an annual high of 85 degrees.
Police and medical personnel arrived at a parking lot in the 3800 block of East Washington Street in the AutoZone area.

EMS transported the baby to Riley's [Hospital for Children] where, despite all the efforts of the medical staff, the baby is dead, "police said in a statement, according to Fox 59 Indianapolis.
Investigators say the baby was in the car with his mother, while another person from the vehicle entered the store.
The mother of the child was brought to the police headquarters to be interrogated by homicide detectives, but no charges have yet been filed.

"This investigation is still considered a death investigation," said the Indianapolis police in a press release. "If a homicide is declared, an official warrant will follow."
An autopsy will be conducted Monday by the Marion County Coroner's Office to determine the cause of death.
