They found themselves face to face with a bear while they were on a couch watching television, but a deputy came to their rescue.

"We started hearing noise," Bobby Harden said.

"And I said my mom would not open Tupperware aggressively at 12:30 in the morning," said Hayes Sherman.

The intruder used the taco meat and slipped into the living room.

The 15 year old boys on vacation from San Francisco said that they were almost frozen in fear.

"It both looks in our eyes, and it started coming towards us, and it was one of the most frightening moments, face to face with the bear," said Hayes.

Hayes having his phone in another room, called 911 through his smart watch, while Bobby barricaded the door between the kitchen and the TV room.

"We have never been more afraid in our lives," said Hayes.

The bear is directed to them.

"The bear was shaking the door and we had to shut it," said Bobby.

The most frightening moment of their lives has been the most comforting.

"I saw a flashlight in the driveway, and it was an extraordinary time," said Bobby, because it was at that time that the assistant sheriff's Placer County, Allison Prero, opened the door.

The bear left the house but lingered in the driveway.

"So, I caught my shotgun, which I had already loaded with a bear ball, and I just hit it with a bear ball at the bottom of the barrel." And he had to leave the neighborhood, "said Prero.

According to the Bear League, bears arrive every summer in the summer to 15 homes in Tahoe during the summer, usually due to unlocked doors and windows.

Despite these very frequent events, the group says that physical contact is very rare.

"Ironically, en route to this call to bear, I went to other bears on the side of the road," said Prero.

The Bear League said these meetings were more common than ever before because they adapted to human interactions.

"I think people underestimate the intelligence of bears. Bears can definitely open doors, residence doors, car doors, "said Prero.

It's something these two have learned the hard way.

"We both left the garage door open, so that's a lesson. Make sure each door and garage door is closed and locked, "Hayes said.
