A black man arrested after helping his neighbor's house drunk

SILVER SPRING, Md. – A video posted online shows a black man being arrested for driving to his drunken neighbor.

Samir Ahmed told the media that he had found a man fainting near his garden in Silver Spring, Maryland, this month, and had helped him go home. He said he returned to search for Montgomery County police looking to help the drunk man.

According to court documents, an officer "then detected a strong smell of marijuana" from Ahmed, who denied owning the drug and resisted his arrest. The video captured by the neighbors shows four officers who then searched Ahmed. Police said the police found a small bag of marijuana.

Ahmed was arrested on charges of disorder and was summoned to court in January. His lawyer said the police could not have felt the unburned marijuana in Ahmed's pocket. The police refused to comment.
