BOSTON (WTVD) – A Boston sports radio host for WBZ-FM hung on Tuesday morning on Chip Alexander from the News and Observer, apparently because of his Southern accent.

The station had Alexander, a longtime drummer writer of the Hurricanes, invited to speak before the Eastern Conference match between Carolina and Boston.

The host said he was fed up with the southern focus of Alexander.

"He had a Southern accent, I can not stand it, hockey and Southern accents," said Fred Toucher, while his co-host seemed stunned by Toucher's action.

Alexander did not think about it, he thought the call had just been disconnected.

He later learned in a tumult on social networks that he had been hung up.

"Nobody likes to be hung up," Alexander told ABC11. "And to be honest with you, when I found out what the guy had said about the Southern accent, I was a little offended, I mean there's no question .

Alexander also pointed out that many radio hosts like to have someone with a distinct southern accent on the show. He also said that he did not want this incident to be exaggerated.
