We are getting closer to the all-screen phone with all the desires, thanks to several innovations that have enabled smartphone publishers to minimize screens and increase the display screen without also increasing the overall footprint of the phone. Most phones still have different design compromises because the technology is not quite ready to offer a perfect all-screen handset with a screen masking the selfie camera, 3D face recognition sensors, sensors fingerprint and the speaker. That's why we have phones with notches, sliding cameras and perforated screens.

But a new device announced this week, which you can not buy, brings us even closer to this design.

Called Vivo Nex 3 and officially unveiled in China, the phone is the first handset in the world to display a waterfall. We had seen the device appear in various rumors before, so we knew that Vivo would beat Huawei for the launch of phones with cascading displays.

The handset looks a lot like the Galaxy S, which places curved screens on the map. However, the curvatures are more pronounced, hence the term "cascading display". This means that the screen wraps around the edges of the phone, further reducing the size of the side panels. Another side effect is that there is more room for the physical buttons on the sides, so everything is built into the edges of the phone. An integrated fingerprint sensor is also available on the Vivo Nex 3.

Huawei will unveil this week's Mate 30 Pro, which will have a similar design, but the phone will have a notch at the top and a physical power button on the side.

The Vivo Nex 3 makes a design compromise, with a sliding selfie camera, which is not ideal. But the Nex 3 has no camera with notch or perforation. At the rear, at the back is a triple camera shooter placed in a circular module with telephoto lenses of 64 megapixels, 13 megapixels ultra-wide and 13 megapixels. Two 16-megapixel selfie cameras are present on the front (after sliding upwards).

In terms of specs, the Vivo Nex 3 has many tricks to its credit, including some features that are not available on many of the flagship Android 2019 products. We're looking for a 6.89-inch 1080p Full HD display, the the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ processor, up to 12GB RAM, 128GB or 256GB UFS 3.0 storage, a 4,500mAh battery with a 44W fast charge and 5G support.

The 5G version will cost 5,698 yuan ($ 806) in China, with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. The 4G model, with only 128 GB of flash memory, will cost 4,998 yuan ($ 707). A version with 12 GB of RAM will go on sale Saturday, according to Vivo. However, it is not known when the device will be shipped outside of China.
