A Californian accused of killing an 8-month-old girl on the US-Mexican border

A Northern California father went to the authorities at the US-Mexico border Monday after a week-long manhunt after his eight-month-old daughter was found dead in a home. Abandoned car seat inside a morgue southeast of Los Angeles Memorial Day.

Alexander Echeverria, 22, of South Sacramento, was a person of interest in the case involving the death of Alexia Rose Echeverria. She was found dead at the Funeraria del Angel Bellflower morgue in Bellflower, California. Authorities believe that the child died in Sacramento.

Echeverria was returning from Mexico on Monday and went to a border crossing near San Diego in the presence of his lawyer, Detective Sergeant Sherf of Sacramento County. James Wilcox said. He was taken to a San Diego jail where he is suspected of first degree murder and assault on a child who has caused serious injuries, the New York Post reported.

Authorities did not provide any information regarding the cause of the child's death except to indicate that it did not appear that the infant died of natural causes.

Echeverria will be transported to Sacramento in the next ten days, where he will be indicted for the death of his daughter, officials said. He had also obtained a warrant against him for charges of domestic violence.
