ITV aired the first episode of his new crime drama A confession tonight (2 September), but the filming of the series prevented some viewers from focusing on the troubling scenario.
With Martin Freeman and written by Jeff Pope, winner of BAFTA, A confession tells the real story of Superintendent Steve Fulcher's investigation into the disappearance of a young woman named Sian O 'Callaghan in 2011.
Freeman plays Fulcher, whose investigation eventually leads him to local taxi driver Christopher Halliwell, who will then plead guilty to Sian's murder.

The cast also includes Happy ValleySiobhan Finneran in the role of O. Callaghan's mother, Elaine Pickford, Imelda Staunton as Karen Edwards (whose daughter, Becky, also disappeared before Halliwell confessed to her murder) and This countryCharlie Cooper, who plays O 's boyfriend Callaghan.
The first of the series certainly touched the viewers, with Sherlock Freeman star coming for the particular praise.
However, many were disappointed by his "fragile" camera, prompting them to change channels after only a few minutes.
One person tweeted: "Anyone who watches @ITV #AConfession and feels sick with a shady camera job … had to turn off after a few minutes."
While the other wrote: "What's going on with the cameraman of #AConfession !? Making me want to disable the program?"
