One person was dead and another person was injured Friday morning after a shootout at a Virginia air base, a US military official said.
Oceana Naval Air Base was locked out during the incident, according to the Virginia Beach Fire Department. The military official said that the shooting, which took place in a parking lot of the base, was caused by domestic unrest.
A Facebook article from the air station account stated that the shooter had been "contained" and that the victim had been taken to the hospital. It was not immediately clear whether the shooter or the victim was dead.
The senior official said before 8 pm that the situation was over. Earlier, a Facebook posting from Oceana Air Force Base said: "This is not an exercise."
