A dead man after a plane crashed against a house near Poughkeepsie

A small plane crashed into a Dutchess County home on Saturday, killing at least one of three men on board, authorities said.

The accident also seriously injured a woman who was at home, which was destroyed in the fire that followed, the authorities said.

Another man suspected of being at home was not found.

The pilot, who took off from Orange County Airport, planned to land on the Sky Acres property in LaGrangeville, where he would refuel for a flight to Long Island Airport, according to the Southwest Dutchess Daily Voice.

The Cessna 303 had engine problems around 16:30. 's crushes in the rural community of Union Vale, about 16 miles east of Poughkeepsie.

Three dogs – two Golden Retrievers and a Newfoundlander who lived in the house – had disappeared. We do not know if they were killed or managed to escape.

The names of the victims were held pending the notification of the family.
