A dead man and three children hospitalized after rescue at sea of ​​Pine Knoll Shores

PINE KNOLL SHORES, N.C. (WITN) A man died and three children are in the hospital after a rescue operation in the water carried out Sunday afternoon at Pine Knoll Shores.

City officials say that shortly before 3 pm Sunday afternoon, emergency teams were dispatched to the Memorial Park beach to allow many victims to rescue the water.

Upon arrival, two passersby tried to help the three children in the water.

Officials said that a child and a good Samaritan had been assisted by a law enforcement officer from Pine Knoll Shores.

The other two children and Good Samaritan were brought to shore by jet ski by PKS EMS.

After several minutes of searching, the Atlantic Beach rescuers spotted and removed the male victim from the water. Paramedics from PKS and Indian Beach practiced CPR on the male victim, but were unable to revive it.

The three children were transported to Carteret Healthcare, and officials claim that they are in good condition.

The family was informed that the adult male victim had not survived and chose not to disclose his name at this time.

The city said red flags were installed Sunday during the day, indicating a high risk of skidding.
