A deadly week in the center of the United States

Saturday marked the tenth consecutive day of tornadoes across the United States, where two people were killed after a possible tornado in El Reno, Oklahoma.

Andrew Skidmore, Director of Emergency Management in Canadian Counties, told CNN on Sunday morning that the officials were still doing the search and rescue and would update the numbers as they go. they received them.

Earlier, Kent Lagaly, fire chief, said the alleged tornado struck a mobile home park.

A hotel adjacent to the park also suffered significant damage, said Lagaly.

The Emergency Management Department of Oklahoma also announced the death of a 53-year-old woman in Payne County and a 58-year-old man in Stephens County, who died after floods and bad weather.

In a press release, 87 other people were injured throughout the state.

On Friday, a state official said flooding would have affected at least 1,000 homes, particularly in northeastern Oklahoma, near the swollen Arkansas River.

In the afternoon, Governor Kevin Stitt had amended a previous decree to declare state of emergency in the 77 counties of the state due to bad weather.

The bad weather of the week killed five people in Missouri.

On Tuesday, a Missouri husband and wife were killed when their SUV skidded on the center lines of Highway 160 and the vehicle hit a trailer. Meanwhile, law enforcement officials said three people had died in the Golden City district of Barton County.

In Iowa, 74-year-old Linda Lee Brownlee was found dead Wednesday in her destroyed home near the town of Adair after the 911 call. State officials said it appeared that she was in danger. a tornado had hit the residence.

In Indiana, a 4-year-old boy is missing after strong currents from heavy rains carried him to Delphi, Indiana.

The child, Owen Jones, was playing at Deer Creek on Thursday when he was swept by the fast currents.

Heatwave in the southeast, cold in the west

As the storm continues in parts of the country, the holiday weekend is expected to mark the informal start of the summer, with record temperature forecasts in the southeastern United States.

CNN meteorologist Allison Chinchar said new records could be set for high temperatures in dozens of cities, from Louisiana to Virginia, paving the way for life-threatening conditions.

Anyone who spends time outdoors this weekend should stay hydrated, wear loose, light colored clothing and try to stay in the shade, she said.

Several cities could experience three-digit temperatures. They include Columbia, South Carolina; Augusta, Georgia; and Tallahassee, Florida. Macon, Georgia, is expected to reach 100 degrees on Memorial Day, which would break its record in May.

But further west, Chinchar said the temperatures would remain well below average.

Cities such as Las Vegas; Phoenix; Reno, Nevada; and Fresno, California will be 20 to 25 degrees below normal. Las Vegas is expected to have a maximum temperature of 70 degrees Sunday and Monday, which is its March 15th average.

Phoenix is ​​expected to have a high temperature of 79 degrees on Memorial Day, its highest average on March 25th.
