A ‘Destiny 2’ warning regarding Osiris Loot Farming trials

Destiny 2’s big Trials of Osiris overhaul is here, and overall, by all accounts, it’s pretty good. Or at least a lot better than it used to be, which seems to be the case for lower and higher level players in different ways.

While I do think there is at least one aspect of the new Trials map and loot system that some people don’t seem clear on, as I certainly didn’t quite get it at the time, although technically, the game explains it if you are reading the fine print.

It’s about how maps, reputation, and loot farming interact.

If you try to be perfect in the tests, nothing has changed for the most part. If a loss is posted to your card, you will need to reset your card and try again. That’s it.

But for everyone else, casual gamers who just want some trial loot, there are actually strong incentives to never reset your card, and I’ve heard people do that after they hit seven wins because they weren’t clear that you’re not really supposed to do it.

Practice cards no longer count losses and will count up to 7 wins and 20 rounds won. The statistic of the turns won plays in the reputation of the trials, 5 points per turn won, so at 20 turns won on a map, that’s why you get 100 rep per patch, win or loss. It’s an engram every 3 to 6 games or so, depending on your rank. If you reset that it will go back down completely and you will have to start going back up to 20. So that’s not great.

But beyond that, you can take the time it takes to reach 7 wins. But here, if you want to farm loot, this is not the place to stop. And this is where you should read the fine print on the card that says “Every win to seven wins grants vastly improved rewards.” And they mean significantly improved.

On a Flawless map, each additional victory without a loss can earn you additional Adept weapon drops. But even on a normal map, even if you’re like 7-50, getting extra wins at 7 wins will get you Core and Prisms, but also the occasional Full Try Engrams and Full Ascendant Shards.

On the other hand, if you reset your map, all you do is lose all of your Snowball winnings and rob yourself of that extra loot chance. I’ll admit that matches after 7 wins seem more difficult than the ones below, and yet I feel like it’s because a number of new players might be resetting their map instead of farming to 7 wins.

In short, the alone The reason you reset your card after 7 wins is if your main goal is to become flawless. But if you can forgo the Adept Loot Luck, and your main goal is just to get as many Trials “stuff” as possible, getting a seven-win card and staying there all weekend is the way to go. , as the rewards will increase dramatically from there, both in terms of engrams and endgame materials. And so it is that trials suddenly become one of the most rewarding activities in the game, whereas before it was one of the least.
