Tony Mandarich is widely regarded as one of the biggest busts in NFL history.

The Green Bay Packers chose the offensive lineman with the No. 2 pick in the NFL draft in 1989 in the state of Michigan, where he was named All-American. However, Mandarich played only three seasons with the Packers before a forgetful pass with the Colts of Indianapolis from 1996 to 1998.

In an interview with ESPN, Mandarich explained that he had had problems with steroids and analgesics during his stay in the league.

The Packers have selected Mandarich with the second choice in the draft.

"I took 40, 50, 60 pain relievers a day and I drank," he said.

He said he used steroids during his stay at Michigan State, which he attributed to the success he had at the university. He said he stopped when he arrived in the NFL because of the league's drug testing.

Mandarich said he lost 10% of his strength after stopping steroids. He was absent from the league for five years between his time with the Packers and Colts to regain his health.
