California police are looking for two suspects who allegedly shot a Lyft driver early Sunday morning after he fired on the men who arrested him, according to a local report.
The driver Lyft had dropped off a passenger in west central Fresno around 3 am Sunday and stopped waiting for another pickup when two men approached him and asked for money, KFSN reported. -TV, citing the police.
The driver reportedly told the police that he had agreed to give the men money, but instead of catching him, he pulled out his own gun and shot the suspects. The suspects reportedly fired back, hitting the driver on the side.

Paramedics would have taken him to a nearby hospital where he was reportedly in critical condition.
"I mean, how sad it is," said Lieutenant Tim Tietjen of the Fresno Police Department. "The guy is just trying to work, he's trying to do his job and he's facing two individuals trying to get him his hard-earned money, for me it's extremely sad and our prayers are going to the victim."
The suspects took off before the arrival of officers and investigators would be looking for a video surveillance in the neighborhood.
A spokeswoman for Lyft told Fox News that the driver had disconnected from the Lyft platform before the incident occurred.

In a statement, spokeswoman Lauren Alexander wrote, "What is reported is terrifying. Although this incident did not occur on the platform, we asked the driver to support him and are ready to help the police to conduct their investigation. "
Lyft has a strict non-weapon policy for both riders and pilots.
