Officers went to the scene on Highway 17 north of Idylwild Road at 12:48 pm and found that a Ford F-150 pickup truck heading north had struck an electrical pole , making the power lines fall in both directions.

Officers tested and arrested the driver of the van, Claudia Maldonado, 23, from Pleasanton, who was under the influence of alcohol.

The PG & E teams were able to clear the power lines of the southbound lanes, which were reopened to traffic around 6:20 am.

Northbound lanes remained closed as crews worked to secure damaged utility poles south and north of Idylwild Road; the work was finished around 7:45.

"The preliminary investigation revealed that the truck had struck a pole and was causing whiplash, damaging the other pole about one kilometer," according to the CHP.

The Ford F-150 was towed and all lanes were reopened at around 8:50 am
