A family found a living frog in a box of organic salads. Enjoy your day

A family from North Shore, Wisconsin, has discovered a live frog in its store-bought salad, according to CNN affiliate, WTMJ. And the store recognizes that this happens sometimes.

It was a regular Tuesday for Karlie Allen and his family. After shopping at a Pick & # 39; n Save in Glendale, they started preparing dinner. Then they found a surprise guest in their organic lettuce Simple Truth.

"I'm on the other side of the room and I hear a scream and a thud," Allen told WTMJ.

"Holy Moly, that's what's happening," Allen said.

So she took out her phone and started recording the frog crawling inside the salad box.

"I think," One – how the hell did this happen? "And" Two – it's absolutely disgusting. "

The family had planned to bring lettuce, including the frog, back to Pick & # 39; n Save, but the small amphibian escaped overnight.

How is something like that?

Allen always brought the salad back to the grocery store and showed the clerk the video she had taken.

Although Allen received a refund, she still wanted answers.

"I just want to know how someone did not notice it or how it even managed to get through the packaging process," she said.

Simple Truth apologized to Allen in a direct message on Twitter.

"We're really sorry that the Simple Truth product contains a living frog inside the carton," the brand said.

Pick's parent company Save, Roundy's Supermarkets, Inc., told CNN's subsidiary that these situations sometimes occurred when organic products were involved.

"The certified organic products of the USDA must be free of synthetic additives and certain pesticides," the company said in a statement. "Although this is rare, we occasionally see insects and other small animals such as frogs that manage to pack fresh produce. In this case, the customer has returned the organic lettuce for a fair exchange . "

Although it may not have been a new event for food and grocery businesses, Allen told WMTJ that she was not planning to eat salad soon.

"This is in a lettuce box supposed to be triple washed, organic and healthy," Allen said.
