A Felony suspect was shot dead by officers in the Powderhorn neighborhood of Minneapolis; ongoing investigation

During the arrest, police said shots were exchanged and the suspect was beaten. He was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.

Police said a woman in the passenger seat was not injured and officers were also not injured in the incident.

Teams from the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension are on the scene and are investigating, police said.

Police said it was believed officers’ body cameras were on when the incident occurred, but it is not known whether they captured the shooting and what led to it. There were also witnesses to the incident.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office will later identify the victim and the cause of his death. The BCA is expected to identify the agents involved in the coming days.
