A firecracker lit in the subway causes chaos

According to runners and MTA officials, a person threw a firecracker on a F-train from 14th Street during the morning commute on Friday, causing chaos during his blast.

User Twitter @Amelia_Vogler tweeted Someone threw the "lit and explosive firecracker" into a rear wagon train heading north around 9:30.

"Nothing makes you look at your own mortality on a Friday in the summer, more than an explosive device thrown a few inches from you in a subway car," she wrote.

After the explosion, terrorized commuters hit the wharf on 23rd Street.

"I just fled a F train heading north with all the passengers. Complete panic, " said the user Twitter @LeslieBradshaw. "Not clear on the issue, but a complete mishap is moving from car to car – chaos. We all fled to the stop at 23rd Street.

Twitter user @davecalhoun added"I just found myself caught in a rush in the New York subway. People flocked from the nearby car screaming and triggered a chain reaction of fear.

Another tweeter, @jdlbrooklyn, wrote that he was "shaken".

"I got trampled and stepped on, then someone called me and we helped out" nobody said.

An FDNY official reported minor injuries in one of the gunmen, who was taken to Bellevue Hospital.

Transit officials said that they were aware of the "very scary situation" and the police investigate.
