A New Zealander man facing ax at work presented a support clown at his recent dismissal meeting. The $ 200 performer provided comical relief when his bosses fired him.
Joshua Jack, an advertising agent in Auckland, said he felt the bad news by receiving an email from his employer, telling him that they needed a meeting to discuss his role this week.
"We talked about the possibility of bringing in a support person," Jack said about the e-mail during an interview with local radio station Magic Talk on Friday.
"I thought it was a promotion or worse. I thought it was better to call a professional. I paid $ 200 and hired a clown.
The news of the cascade of support clowns grew rapidly as the New Zealand Herald released a photo showing a serious meeting of Jack with the emotional support clown and two employers sitting across from him.
Jack was fired at the end, but he said his officials at the FCB advertising agency were grateful to him for "spicing up the meeting" and "seeing the humorous side".
The clown was mourning when Jack's employers slipped redundant paperwork over the table and created a unicorn and a ball poodle to lighten the mood.
"They were getting a free service and were also getting entertainment from Joe the Clown," said Jack, but conceded that the clown was a little embarrassing.
"It was a bit noisy, he was ballooning animals, so we had to tell him to stay quiet from time to time."
The clown thought it was an "unusual touch," Jack said, but was "generally supportive" at the meeting.
"It was $ 200, so I guess he was one of Auckland's best clowns," said Jack. "I highly recommend bringing Joe or another clown. Highly recommended. "
